WILLIAM PYE
Vessel

2000. Bronze and water

Pye, who was born in London in 1948, has been working with water as a sculptural, malleable element since the 1980s. The design of Vessel plays with the phenomenon of surface tension. How does this respond to the slowest flow possible? The difference in height between the funnel in the middle and the rim is 7 mm so that the water, which is being constantly pumped back to the surface, spreads out evenly.
