(WILD BOARS) 2001. Cast steel

Peter Nagel, born in Westphalia in 1963, studied at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf under Tony Cragg, among others. His works often greet the viewer with a wink, full of irony, subversive critique or parody. Appearing monumental from a distance, the sculpture Planet der Schweine (Planet of the Pigs) is made up of 200 lumber-core plywood boards, based on a paper model Nagel constructed with the help of hand-drawn sketches. Each board is different. Minor shifts led finally to the creation of a planet, from which wild boars greet us.
