2008. Verrucano and Mergozzo granite “The source of my work is nature. I approach her with respect but poetic freedom. I hope to create images and ideas that find a response in the world of the imagination, leaving tracks in the earth and the mind.” Two works were created here in 2008 in an old cowshed. The Ellipse was laid out in volcanic Verrucano stone, estimated as being 250 million years old. In contrast, Italian Mergozzo granite comprises the centre. The mural also speaks of one person’s gesture in dialogue with the earth. Richard Long, born in 1945, now lives in Bristol in England. |
