STEINER/LENZLINGER
Eldorado

2011. Mixed media

More and more wild boars are ploughing up the meadows in the Basel region in search of grubs and roots, much to the frustration of local farmers. At the end of the 2011 hunting season, Steiner & Lenzlinger installed an “Eldorado” in the empty fodder silo – both for them and for us – where their bones and teeth rotate in the breeze: a quiet dance macabre suffused with melancholy counterbalanced by imaginative power. Gerda Steiner (born 1967) and Jörg Lenzlinger (born 1964) have worked together since 1997 and have lived near Schönthal for the last few years.
