MIRIAM CAHN
Brutalitätenskulptur

(BRUTALITY SCULPTURE) 2007/08

Miriam Cahn was born in Basle in 1949. She now lives in Bergell, where one day, she was witness to the following: the crowns of healthy trees along a tree-lined boulevard had been brutally capped. After a while, Cahn noticed that the trees had not accepted defeat, but were showing signs of regeneration by sprouting new shoots. Cahn’s Brutality Sculpture bears witness to such aggression, being encouraged by the surrounding trees to hope that this ash tree might also spring to life again.
